Here are some of the amazing dogs you can meet this Sunday!
Meet Bear! He's a 7-year-old neutered Shepherd mix who weighs 65 pounds. His profile on the Doggone Adoptions site says he loves attention & will bark for attention, but when I met him at the last adopt-a-thon he was a perfect gentleman!
Here's Bear at the last adopt-a-thon, curious about my camera. :) Bear is very friendly with adults & children, and gets along well with other dogs. He walks well on a leash! He can be protective of his yard and will bark to let people know whose turf it is. :) He needs a home with a fenced in yard. His foster mom said "He does run around when excited--it's the cutest thing ever! He gets this HUGE smile on his face & trots around! He is usually VERY attentive to people, and excellent with verbal commands! He is crate, leash, and house trained!"
Next up is Chloe, a 7-year-old spayed female Lab mix who weighs 50 pounds. She's low energy, loyal, and non-aggressive, and she loves companionship with people! She's also very curious, as you can tell by this picture I took of her at the last adopt-a-thon:
She needs a little training to walk on a leash but seemed to do okay when I was walking her at the adopt-a-thon - sometimes she tugs because she's so curious to see what's going on! She jumps a bit when she's excited but she's not a barker. She's a little shy with strangers & children, but was the cutest worker at the Dream 4 Pets table at the adopt-a-thon:
It's recommended that Chloe go to a home that has a fenced in yard!
Next up is Chloe's good buddy, Cleo!
Cleo is a 8 or 9-year-old spayed female Flat Coat Retriever mix who weighs 70 pounds. She's shy around strangers & children initially but loves companionship with other dogs & people! She's loyal and loves attention - here she is, lounging on a pillow after being groomed at the last adopt-a-thon:
She has medium energy, loves to run and play, and is non-agressive but will bark when startled. She will follow you when you walk, even without a least, and it's recommended that she go to a home with a fenced in yard.
The last (but not least!) of the Doggone Adoption dogs that will be at the adopt-a-thon is Ginger!
I somehow missed snapping a pic of Ginger at the last adopt-a-thon, but she sure does look happy in the picture above! Ginger is an 8-year-old Sheltie/Chow mix who is spayed and weighs 65 pounds. She's high energy & very friendly to all - she loves companionship with people and other dogs! She loves attention & will bark to get it - she will also bark to "protect" her house & yard. She's good on a leash & doesn't pull, but she needs a fenced in yard because she loves to run!If you're interested in any of the dogs from Doggone Adoptions, you can fill out an adoption application to bring with you to the adopt-a-thon:
Two other dogs who will be at the adopt-a-thon are Shark & Zoey, who were saved from euthanization at the Shelby County Animal Shelter:
Here's some info about this dynamic duo: "Shark & Zoey were rescues from a Florida shelter. Their owner lost housing and cound not keep them. They are littermates and have always been together...Zoey is the mother hen and gives Shark the confidence he needs in some new situations. Both are reportedly housetrained, have been around children, have great manners, and will sit on command. They don't seem to jump on anyone. They are great dogs in need of a forever home!"
As I mentioned earlier, dogs from Lost & Found K9 Rescue will also be at the adopt-a-thon! Let's take a look at their gorgeous pups!
First up, meet Ozzie!
Here's what Ozzie's foster family had to say about him: "We believe Ozzie is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. He is 1 1/2 yrs old. 11 lbs. Good with other dogs, good with kids, ok with the cats. He wants to play with them. If they run he will chase but he did not try to bite mine...he just bounces around him. He has the sweetest eyes!!! They make your heart melt. He loves to be held and kissed on and loves to cuddle with you. He also loves to go on car rides. He is very good in the car does not run all over. He is content to just sit in your lap and travel. He comes when he is called, is crate trained and housetrained."
This sweet little guy is Rudy!
Here's what Rudy's foster family said about him: "He is a fun, playful 2 yr old. He loves to just be with someone...whether it is us or another dog. He loves to run in the yard and just play! He is such a happy go lucky boy! He is a shorty. He is cage trained/house trained/leash trained/good in a fence. Good with other dogs, cats and kids. Really I can't think of anything wrong with him...LOL. He needs a new forever family to call his own."
This little sweetheart is Grover, an 8.5 year old Jack Russell/Parson Russell Terrier who's got a sad story!
Grover's foster family said: "Poor Grover had a UTI...His owners no longer wanted to deal with it and him so they just decided to take him to the vet and get rid of him! WHAT??? So we took him in. He was so confused and scared! He is doing really well now. Loves to be outside and just run and play and roll in the grass! He loves to play with soccer balls...he will chase them and bring them back to you. He does well on a leash and in the fence and is cage trained/house trained. He likes to play with other dogs too!"
Next up is Clyde, a Puggle who I featured on my blog during his time at the Miami County Animal Shelter!
Here's some info from Clyde's profile: "Clyde was brought in to the shelter as a stray. He is approximately 2yrs old. He does have a few issues that we working on. Despite his issues, Clyde sure is a cutie with his underbite! After keeping Clyde up front in the office with us for the past 2 days, we've made some progress. We discovered that although he is hesitant with us, he seems to be much more comfortable with children, surprisingly enough! When he heard a child's voice, he was walking over to the gate to find them. Today we kid tested him (on an older child) and discovered that kids may be his type of "people"! He seemed to much rather hang out the little boy, than he did with us big people! I am not sure that I would trust him with very young children, but he did very well with the 9 yr old boy who was here."
Next up is Milo, an adorable terrier mix!
Here's what Milo's foster family had to say about him: "We have no idea what Milo is...he is a fuzzy little terrier mix! He is the cutest little thing. Very well behaved. He is about 2 yrs old. About 11-12 lbs. Good with other dogs, good with kids. I have not tested him with the cat yet. (I will update that soon.) He comes when he is called, crate trained, housetrained. He loves to cuddle and loves to be held and loved on. Does not bark very much. Very laid back little guy and a joy to have around! (I just love him to pieces!) "
This smiley guy is Calvin!
Here's what Calvin's foster family said about him: "Meet Calvin...he is about 8 yrs old although he sure doesnt act like it. He was found as a stray and had been at the shelter since 11/20. Poor thing was in the shelter for TWO months! He is a very sweet boy! He does well with other dogs, kids, and cats. Is housetrained and cage trained although he is not completely fond of the cage. He has some anxiety in there. He loves to be held, kissed on and just given all kinds of attention to! He knows how to sit, lay down (but he cheats...he doesn't want to go down all the way!), sits up and will stay...but only for a few seconds. He wants to be near you so he rushes to you as quickly as he can to get his treat! We prefer he goes to a home with a fence. A privacy fence would be the best. He is a very sweet boy and is just waiting for someone to love him!"
Next up, meet Frannie!
Frannie's foster family said: "Meet Frannie...She is about 7-8 yrs old. She was taken from a hoarding case. She is a very sweet little girl. She only weighs 12.9 lbs. Poor thing has the worst under bite but she is still cute as a button! :) Now that she knows that no one is going to hurt her anymore she acts so happy...tail wagging and dancing around. She loves to be held and kissed on and she will give you kisses once she warms up to you. She is housetrained and cage trained gets along well with other dogs and cats. She loves to just be with you! She is off leash trained and good in the fence. She loves to play outside since she didn't get to experience the grass that much. Frannie needs a new forever home that will spoil her rotten...she definitely deserves it."
Next up is Ernie! (I love his face!!)
His foster family says: "Ernie is a sweet boy! We pulled him from the shelter with Ozzie. They were found together as strays running the streets and no one claimed them. He is fun to play with...he gets very vocal when he wants to play with you. It is kind of funny like he is telling you what to do. He is good with most other dogs...we are thinking it would be best for him to be a female or with a more submissive male. He is good with kids but because he is so vocal we are thinking above 6 yrs old so he doesn't scare them. He gets vocal while you are playing with him but otherwise he is actually pretty quite. He doesn't bark in the cage unless he needs to go out and he doesn't bark in the fence at just anything. He comes when he is called. He is leash trained/cage trained/does well in the fence."
This handsome guy is Jaydee!
Here's what his foster family had to say: "JayDee is a wonderful dog. He is housebroken, crate trained, and can be let off leash in the yard. He is 4 years old, neutered and up to date on all of his shots. His family loves him very much but JayDee has been unable to adjust to having a new baby in the house. He does well with children older than 5 but no one younger. He is happy to play ball in the yard or lay next to you on the couch. JayDee also loves to go for walks and car rides. He loves to snuggle under the covers with you or in just as content to sleep in his crate. He gets along well with other dogs and is ok around cats, he may chase them because he wants to play but has never hurt one. He has never lived outside so he must be an indoor dog. Do you think you could give JayDee a forever home?"
