Eighteen Extraordinary Pooches!

The puppy population explosion continues - I can't believe how many amazing adoptable dogs have shown up in area shelters!

Darke County Doggies
(if you're interested in adopting any of the following dogs, contact the Darke County Animal Shelter at 937-547-1645!)

Meet Bo!  He's a 2-year-old Lab/Coonhound mix who is neutered & is current on his shot.  The shelter staff says he's a friendly guy who would make a great companion!

This big boy is Rambo, a 3-year-old Newfoundland.  He's a gentle giant, has been neutered, and is good with kids.  He needs a good bath & a haircut, and he'll be ready for a great new home!  The shelter staff did mention that he is a little food aggressive around other dogs, but that he's still a sweetheart!

Miami County Doggies
(if you're interested in adopting any of the following dogs, contact the Miami County Animal Shelter at 937-332-6919!)

Meet Daisy May!  She's a 3-year-old Lab mix who was picked up as a stray.  She is spayed and the shelter staff says she's a very sweet, mellow big girl!

This sweet little guy is Odie!  He's a 1-year-old Jack Russell/Dachshund mix who was turned in by his owners because he was "too much to handle."  He's already neutered and is a little shy, but he comes around!

This little sweetie is Kenai!  She's a 7-month-old Fox Terrier mix who was brought in as a stray & will be available for adoption on 6/24/11.  She's very sweet and loveable!

Next up is Henny Penny, a 1-year-old Boxer mix.  She was brought in as a stray & will be available for adoption on 6/25/11.  She is very sweet, friendly, and loveable!

Meet Dina!  She's a 3-year-old Rottweiler.  She, too, was brought in as a stray and will be available for adoption on 6/25/11.  The shelter staff says she's a sweet & mild-mannered girl!

This gorgeous gal is Powder!  She's an American Eskimo Dog who was brought in as a stray & will be available for adoption on 6/24/11.  The shelter staff says she's a very friendly & energetic girl!

Meet Sarge!  He's a 2-1/2 year old Golden Retriever who was released to MCAS because of a move.  The owner stated that he's good with kids & is housebroken, though he had to be an outside dog for the past few months.  He is very friendly and affectionate!

Next up we have Gus!  He's a 1-year-old Lhasa Apso who was picked up as a stray & will be available for adoption on 6/25/11.  The shelter staff says he's a very friendly & outgoing little guy!

Shelby County Doggies
(if you're interested in adopting any of the following dogs, call the Shelby County Animal Shelter at 937-498-7201!)

This blue-eyed beauty is Daliah, a Chow Chow/Husky mix that the shelter staff describes as very intelligent & alert!

Meet Maverick!  This handsome fellow is a Great Dane Mix who still needs to be neutered, but who has a very sweet & quiet nature.  The shelter staff says he's well-behaved and beautiful!

Next up is Delilah!  She came into the shelter as a stray and seems to get along with other dogs - the shelter staff put her in with Abriel, the Chocolate Lab & they got along fine.  The staff also said she's very well-mannered!

Meet Zyler!  He's a 3-year-old Flat Coat Retriever who just loves to be near you!  He's a little scared in the shelter because of all the noise, but he adjusts once he's out on a leash & has super leash manners.  Zyler is considered URGENT because he has a large lump on his side - he was probably dumped at the shelter because of this.  :(  (I can speak from experience when I say lumps on dogs aren't always "the big C" - they're often just fatty benign tumors that can be removed with a simple surgery!  So don't count Zyler out just because he's got a lump!)

Next up is Tommy!  He must be new to the shelter because there's no info in his profile other than his name & the fact that he's a Black Lab - if you call the shelter I know they'll be glad to answer any questions you might have about him!

Meet Siler!  He's a 1-year-old neutered male Schnauzer who just came in to the shelter.  The shelter staff says he has great manners!

Meet Larkin!  He must be one of the smartest pups in this area, because he wrote his own profile!  "Hi, my name is Larkin.  I have passed from one home to another.  None of my owners were very loyal or committed to me like I was to them.  I just want an owner that I can trust and love...would you be willing to give me that chance?"

Last, but most certainly not least, is Boss!  This smiling guy is a 4-year-old Bloodhound mix, who's already neutered.  He was dumped at the shelter.  :(  The shelter staff says he's super well-mannered & seems to be potty trained - they believe he was a house dog, based on how he acts.  He is super sweet and LOVES people - his eyes just light up when he's shown any attention!  He's also considered URGENT because of how full the shelter is - call them up to give him a forever home!
